  71. A Brief History of Time, the bulk of his career has been 
  72. spent in pursuit of the ultimate question: How does the 
  73. universe work and where did it come from?

  75. A unified "theory of everything" may be in sight and could be
  76. reached before the end of this century. Such a theory holds 
  77. the prospect of combining General Relativity and cosmology in
  78. one grand theory of creation. Such a theory would be able to 
  79. predict the probability of any event at all, at least in 
  80. principle, although in practice the calculations would be too
  81. complex to make the equations solvable by theoretical
  82. physicists in all but the simplest cases.
